Severe Weather Decoder Update Notes and Instructions
************************************************************************

The National Hurricane Center has changed its message format for
severe weather bulletins. Message headers originally used GMT format.
Now they are using UTC format.

Old Format Example:

0300Z WED JUL 19 2006

New Format Example:

0300 UTC WED JUL 19 2006

The revised decoder now looks for either format or no format at all,
in case both "Z" and "UTC" are omitted in the future.

Pre-Installation Instructions
************************************************************************

Instructions For Testing SVRWX_DEC
************************************************************************

DO NOT REMOVE these files unless it is absolutely necessary.

In the case of a site where no WWUS messages have been received prior to
or after installing the new SVRWX_DEC file:

1) Stop the SVRWX_DEC process group from the LEADS sysmon.

2) Browse to the /leads/data/alpha directory wherever your server application resides.

3) Locate and backup the two files named SVRWXMSG.db and SVRWXMSG.db.old

4) Delete the two original files.

5) Edit the file named SEV_TSTM.txt

a) On the line WWUS30 KWNS 241715
The time should be within 15 minutes prior to the current time in zulu.
Example: Current time is 1730 zulu, then 241715 would be within
15 minutes prior to the current time in zulu.

b) On the line WW 635 SEVERE TSTM LA MS 241715Z - 241800Z
The first time (241715Z) should match the time from a)
The second time (2421800Z) should be within the hour. This
is the expiration time of the message. If it is set to expire to soon,
it may not display if the expiration time has passed.

c) Save the file as SEV_TSTM_1.txt

5) Place the file named SEV_TSTM_1.txt into the /leads/data/decode/wmofiles/
directory wherever your server application resides.

6) Start the SVRWX_DEC process group from the LEADS sysmon.

7) Stop and start the LEADS UI.
